Molecule Formula Car ChallenceThe Molecule Formula Mazda Challenge presented by Goodyear announced their 2010 schedule today. The series will race this upcoming season at four unique tracks; Infineon Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway Park, Portland International Raceway, and Miller Motorsports Park.

"As has been the model since the series inception, our drivers will always have their own exclusive track time," stated Series Official Ben Hettema. "The only cars on track during our sessions are the Mazda powered Goodyear equipped Formula Mazdas."

There are three new special events added for 2010. The first one is over the July 4th weekend. The series will head up to Portland International raceway for an exclusive double header. "The track and surrounding area are beautiful," stated Hettema. "It is an additional bonus that the drivers can also participate in the national races that same weekend and run a total of four races during this event."

In August the series will head back to Infineon Raceway to compete on the same weekend as the IZOD IndyCar Series. "Many of the drivers have been asking us if we could get on this schedule as this is the premier open wheel event on the west coast. Infineon Raceway has been kind enough to offer us a slot in the schedule, and also provide us with our own paddock area for this event. We intend to put on a great show for the race fans and work with the IZOD IndyCar Series and Infineon Raceway so that we can hopefully make this an annual event," added Hettema.

2010 is the first year that the Formula Car Challenge will be a featured class at the NASA National Championships. "We are really excited about this opportunity for our drivers," said World Speed Motorsports Operations Manager Mark Milazzo. "Now the Formula Mazda drivers from all over the country can meet once a season and determine who the best of the best is." The NASA National Championship attendees compete in three races during the event and the driver with the most points is crowned the NASA Formula Car Challenge National Champion. The NASA National Championships take place at Miller Motorsports Park September 16-19.
